We offer free meditation instruction before regular sitting times
Our Schedule |
Our regular mid-week meditation sitting is on Wednesday night 7-7:30pm. Sitting is followed by a tea break and book discussion (see below for current book title) or on occasion a video series.
|
Our regular Sunday morning meditation sitting is 9:30-11am consisting of one & half hours of sitting and walking meditation. Sitting is followed by a tea break and book discussion (see below for current book title) or a video or audio series.
Nyinthun (3 hours) session of meditation is the fourth Sunday of every month.
SHRINE ROOM DECORUM
Decorum refers to the rules of proper and dignified behavior. The purpose of such rules and procedures is to train the mind, so that one creates a clear environment which encourages ongoing mindfulness and gives immediate feedback of one’s neurosis.
- Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the following points.
1) Pause when entering the shrine hall, when passing in front of the shrine, and when passing in front of the teacher’s chair. If you wish you may bow.
2) In general, maintain a silent practice environment in the shrine hall. Of course, there are exceptions to this rule, such as community announcements and discussion groups.
3) When entering to practice, stand at your seats until the umdze sits down.
4) Do not lie down in the shrine hall. Always maintain good sitting posture.
5) Do not stretch out your legs in the direction of the shrine, except momentarily to rest.
6) Do not put dharma texts, such as chants, directly on the floor. Placing them on a zabuton is fine, however.
7) Shoes are not permitted in the shrine hall, except in the case of an empowered lineage holder.
