| Welcome
Shambhala Phoenix Meditation Center is part of an international community of urban meditation and rural retreat centers founded by Vidyadhara Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche, and is now led by Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche.
Our center, offers public meditation two times per week, a core curriculum of Buddhist and Shambhala teachings, as well as training in advanced contemplative practices. We invite you to explore our diverse programs designed to help people of all traditions discover their inherent sanity, gentleness and humor.
Please come sit, come study and come see what we are all about.
Our regular sittings are Wednesday night 7-7:30pm and Sunday morning 10-11am and both sittings are open to the public. Click here for further schedule details.

Shambhala Centres and groups throughout the mandala are to benefit from a new $200,000 matching grant campaign being launched by The Sakyong Foundation.
Last year, at the Sakyong's request, a matching gift campaign by The Sakyong Foundation helped wipe out Shambhala's operating debt. The $250,000 pledge inspired an increase of over $14,000 in new monthly contributions and $150,000 in one-time gifts from people all over our mandala. That campaign, plus an auspicious bequest, means that Shambhala's Core Services are now completely free of operating debt and able to provide increased services to the sangha at large.
With the enthusiastic support of Shambhala's leadership, The Sakyong Foundation is now offering a new matching grant campaign aimed at strengthening local Shambhala centres and groups worldwide.
The Sakyong has expressed his strong support for this campaign. It has been his long-held desire that the centre of the mandala would be able to direct financial resources outwards to support the rest of the mandala. "Our community tends to be focused on big events and gatherings -- whether in Halifax or at the land centres. But most of the practice and exertion happens when people are at home," he said. "Financial support of our local centres and groups is a direct expression of mandala principle."
How the campaign will help the Phoenix Shambhala Meditation Group:
For every $1 given as a new or increased recurring monthly donation to your local Shambhala centre or group, $10 will be added by the Foundation as a one-time grant. The success of this campaign will result in a total of $20,000 in additional recurring monthly donations and another $200,000 in one-time grants distributed to participating centres and groups in our global mandala.
The matching grant from The Sakyong Foundation will be based solely on increased recurring monthly dues and donations. The matching funds will first be used to purchase the materials to put the new Rigden Shrine together and then to sponsor programs for our members.
