About Us The Shambhala Phoenix Meditation Center was formally organized and became part of Shambhala International in October 2004. We started out as a small group of Shambalians who would get together to meditate at each other's homes in 2002. As the group began to meet more regularly we were able to rent a space in Scottsdale where we really began to grow. During that time we had several classes and even gave two Shambhala Level 1 Trainings.
The group relocated to its present space on Maryland Avenue in Phoenix on March 1st, 2007. Since moving into our present location and with the hard work and dedication of several members the group is continuing to grow. We now offer various Shambhala Training Classes, have sittings two times a week, and have special gatherings on Shambhala Day & Harvest of Peace as part of our centers regular activities and programs. Our center is a diverse group consisting of men and women from varied backgrounds and interests, from the seasoned Buddhist with 20 years of study to those that have recently found the path. We invite you to come sit, come study and come see what we are all about. The Shambhala Phoenix Meditation Group would like to thank the Tucson Shambhala Meditation Group for their help in getting us started and the previous Shambhala Phoenix Groups for starting the seed that would lead to our current Sangha many years ago.
The Gaden Jangtse Monks were at our center to perform a Blessing Ceremony on March 24th, 2008 The monks are currently touring in order to raise funds for food and educational supplies for Tibetan refugees in India where they have built their new Gaden Jangse Monastery after being forced to leave Tibet.
